Devices

Use your devices together

Some apps let your own devices find each other and share things, such as a file or a save, without going through the internet first. Each device you are signed in on with your Polaris Locker account is a linked device. When one is close by, the app calls it a nearby device.

Only you. A device appears only if it is signed in to your account in the same app. What you send between devices is private: nobody else can read it, and neither can Polaris Locker.

If you are not on the same network, the app may send the data through Polaris Locker’s relay. The relay passes it on without being able to read it.

To find devices on your Wi-Fi, your phone or computer asks to allow the app to find and connect to devices on your local network. Allow it to see nearby devices.

If you said no, the app reports Local network blocked. Allow it again in your system settings:

  • iPhone and iPad: Settings, then the app, then Local Network.
  • Mac: System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Local Network.
  • Android: the app’s permissions, under Nearby devices or Local network.

The app still works without it. It uses the relay instead, when the developer has turned that on.

Removing a device unlinks it. It stops seeing your other devices, and they stop seeing it.

  1. Sign in at polaris.locker.
  2. Open the app’s page and find Devices.
  3. Select Remove next to the device, then Remove to confirm.

See Your devices for what else changes when you remove one.

Open the app on that device and activate it or sign in again. It links again.
